Biology and Love
I would like you to know that I was half-way through a terrific blog post that you would have totally loved, full of fresh imagery and interesting ideas, when I realized that one of my phrases sounded a teensy-bit familiar. I checked back to the FreiFem archives and realized I already wrote the exact blog post I was writing – last week. My memory is freaking shot. My brain is totally mush. Pregnancy biology…
I love it, my husband crows, as we’re driving through Manhattan, me taking a left turn every time a rational brain would go right. I’m finally smarter than you!
In other news, I’m in love with this quote I saw in a recent guest post over on Motherlode, written by Amy Julia Becker:
“Love is not an emotion so much as it is a series of actions.”
How many times in my life have I heard people (or supernatural beings) claiming to “love me” – but it’s true, it all comes down to the actions, there’s the evidence for the verdict whether or not it’s love.
And finally, as you can imagine, feminist that I am, I’m totally outraged over the whole Tzitung photo scandal, but totally glad it happened: It’s nice to see the secret realities of that world exposed so blatantly they cannot be pretended to not exist….
We’re off to Mexico for the weekend (belated birthday trip for my husband/babymoon), updates from the land of sunshine and cheap off-limits beer next week!
