A Chasidic protester of the gay rights bill in Albany spat on gay rights activist Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum after she put her arm around him. Unfortunately, the moment of forbidden physical contact was caught on video. Somebody’s kids aren’t getting shiduchim anytime soon….

101 year old Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, one of the long-time leaders of the Charedi community, had successful heart surgery on Sunday night. The Tin Man is relieved, but the Scarecrow is still singing “If I only had a brain”*.

Dissidents in Kiryas Yoel have filed a federal lawsuit asking for the village to be dismantled due to its rampant violations of church and state. Chances of success are slim, as they’ve forgotten to consider that bloc voting trumps the Constitution any day.

On June 17th, Saudi Arabian women protested their country’s ban on female drivers by flaunting the law en masse. With Arab revolution stirring the air, there is hope that the law will be repealed. It may get lonely for the male demigods of New Square without their fellow women-oppressing mullahs for company…
